Youth Leader Mission Experience
October 15-17, 2010
There is a special opportunity coming for you and the youth leaders of your church. Instead of the annual fall Youth Leaders’ Retreat, the State Youth Ministry Team is sponsoring a group Urban Mission and Service Experience to Chicago. We will be serving under the leadership of CSM (Center for Student Missions) the weekend of October 15-17, 2010.
During this weekend, our youth leaders will be networking and sharing together as well as getting excited about serving others! We want leaders to see possibilities during the weekend that can be transferred back home to youth groups- no matter the size, or location of your church.
All available spots filled!
Our Weekend Serving Will Include a Variety of Opportunities Such as These:
-
Friday evening Prayer Tour of areas of Chicago with great needs- highlighting current ministries meeting these needs. We’ll have the chance to pray for people and ministries.
-
Assisting in food pantries
-
Serving in a Soup Kitchen and interacting with those being fed
-
A work project- could be demolition or painting
-
Assisting at a Food Bank
-
“Meeting a Need”- on the streets
-
Training with the group “Bridge to Life”- and then making sandwiches, going to areas of Chicago Saturday evening passing out food to homeless and sharing with them.
-
Training with the group “Emmaus Immersion” and then ministering late Saturday evening in the area of Chicago called Boys Town, in the gay and lesbian bars.
(You would be able to choose this specific ministry if you feel called to learn and help in this way.)
