2010 Prayer Summit

Consecrate a fast,
Call a sacred assembly;
Gather the elders
And all the inhabitants of the land
Into the house of the LORD your God,
And cry out to the LORD.
Joel 1:14

Spring 2010 Prayer Summit
March 19-20, 2010

A Divine Awakening

Pastors, leaders and workers are invited to attend a corporate time given to soul searching and self-examination. Though every worship service ought to involve these, this Solemn Assembly is expressly for that purpose. It is a time of repentance, confession, renewal, awakening, brokenness, and seeking the face of God.

Corporate sin can only be confessed and repented of when the corporate body comes together to ask God for forgiveness. Fasting is required—contrition of heart is expected. Genuine humility before God is essential. Prayer Summits take the glamour out of our meetings with God. A Solemn Assembly checks all egos at the door. There are no who‟s-who list, no celebrities, no personalities...it‟s just the elements, you, and God!

Are you in need of a spiritual awakening? Are you worn out with all the religious fads and band-aid solutions? Is your church desperate for a divine touch and a major infusion of Holy Spirit Power? Are there situations and challenges in your life and with the church that demand a miraculous response? Then, please, reserve this day to get away with God and to experience a complete transformation. You and your church will be immeasurably blessed.

Richard Roberts

Richard Owen Roberts is the President and a founding Director of International Awakening Ministries. A native of Schenectady, New York, Mr. Roberts prepared for the ministry at Gordon College, Whitworth College, and Fuller Theological Seminary.

Since 1975, Mr. Roberts and his family have lived in the Wheaton, Illinois, area. He worked with the Billy Graham Association and Wheaton College in the formation of the Billy Graham Center Library. His own private collection of some 9,000 volumes relating to movements of religious revival provides the nucleus of the Graham Center Library.

From his youth, Mr. Roberts has been a student of spiritual awakenings. He has authored, edited, and/or published numerous volumes relating to revival and revivalism. Mr. Roberts says, “Effective, fervent prayer is grievously neglected in today's church. Church members flock eagerly to social events and entertaining programs. They willingly attend endless religious activities and meetings. They will regularly participate in „worship‟ services and even Bible studies. But God's people, both personally and corporately, woefully disregard earnest, Godcentered prayer. Seasons of prolonged prayer, Biblical fasting, and solemn assembling are often unheard of or grossly misunderstood. Ardent, protracted, God-centered praying has been a distinguishing mark of revivals of the past. God then comes among His friends to awaken a spirit of extraordinary prayer.”
