Seven Steps to a New Church

    Has God wired you up as a church planter? Do you have the leadership style and gifting of a church planter? The first step in planting is completing an assessment.

    Professional Development Plan Completed
    Based on the assessment what training or ministry experiences do I need to be adequately prepared in the seven key areas of church planting?

Ideas How Your Church Can Support Church Planting - Even if your church is not ready to daughter there are numerous ways the church can be involved in fulfilling the Great Commission through church planting in Michigan

  1. Offer prayer Support

    Contact a church plant and ask them how you might prayer for them. This is needed to combat the spiritual warfare a new church faces. It will also be a great source of encouragement to the planter and core leadership.

  2. Offer Practical Ministry Support

    New congregations have ministry needs that you can provide. New churches in your area that do not have their own building yet will periodically need a baptistery, or sanctuary for a wedding. Consider sharing leadership for a specific period of time until the new church gets on its feet.

  3. Host a new church in the private phase

    New churches generally spend six to nine months in a private phase building the infrastructure for the new church. During the private phase they do not hold public worship. A neighboring church can provide their facilities for small group meetings and training session during the private phase.

  4. Plan Joint Gathering Events

    If your congregation is near a new church, consider planning joint outreach gathering events with the new church. Through the joint efforts of both congregations there will be more financial resources for the event and hence potentially greater impact on the community.

  5. Financial Support

    Your support for both the general budget and Michigan Kingdom Builders goes to the support of new works.

  6. Become a Partnering Church to a New Church

    If your congregation has shown exceptional strength in areas of leadership development, raising funds, developing an efficient structure, or been a leader in caring for it’s pastoral staff, these practices can be have help to a new church. Take the initiative and contact a new church at the New Plants Link and offer your services.

Steps to Daughtering - The steps an established church can take to daughter a new church.

    1. Assess the Health of the Parent Church
      A common concern of a church considering the possibility of planting is, “are we healthy enough to plant a new church?” This is a valid question. It is a question that can be answered with some degree of objectivity. The four measuring sticks of a daughtering church are a) annual growth rate, b) actual assimilation ratios, c) leadership development practices, and Natural Church Development assessment.

    2. Understand the Phases of Daughtering and the Parent Church’s Role
      Reproduction (12 - 24 months)
